EIA PRE-SUBMISSION CHECK

EIA Report Check

Before submission, catch the mechanical errors. Every item comes with a page number and the original text. We give no environmental conclusions.

WHAT WE CHECK

What we check

Four kinds of comparison. No judgement calls. Each comes with the shape of a typical item.

01

Standard citations

Do standard numbers, names and versions agree across the report? Has a cited standard been replaced or withdrawn?

A typical item: Chapter 7 cites the Ambient Air Quality Standard as GB 3096-2012. GB 3096 is the Environmental Quality Standard for Noise. Please confirm the number.

02

Cross-chapter consistency

Do the numbers, names and directions for the same object match from chapter to chapter?

A typical item: Chapter 3 gives a basin area of 3,104,000 km². Chapter 5 gives 175,412 km². Please confirm.

03

Standard scope notes

Does the scope clause of a standard fit how the report uses it? The list quotes the clause.

A typical item: Chapter 6 evaluates forest-land sample points against GB 15618. Its scope clause covers cultivated land. Please confirm.

04

“See Table X” references

For each “see table” or “as the figure shows”, does the table or figure exist, and is the number right?

A typical item: The text says “as Table 3.5-25 shows”. No Table 3.5-25 exists in the report. Please confirm.

The items above are illustrations of the format. They do not come from any client’s report.

WHAT WE DO NOT DO

What we do not do

We make no environmental professional judgements. That line stays put.

  • We do not judge whether limits, assessment levels or measures are right.
  • We do not write “pass” or “fail”. We do not replace expert review.
  • We do not edit your report. We list findings with page numbers and the original text.
  • Some items will be false alarms. If your engineer can rule one out at a glance, cross it off.
  • The official publication decides whether a standard is current. The list only flags it.

HOW IT WORKS

How it works

Three steps.

01

Send the report

Send it as PDF or Word. If it holds confidential or sensitive material, tell us first and we will agree how to transfer it.

02

Receive the list

We return a check list. Each item states the issue, the page and the original text. We confirm the expected turnaround once we have the report.

03

Your engineer decides

Whether to change anything, and how, is your engineer’s call. We give no environmental conclusions.

PILOT

Pilot period: one free check

During the pilot, each EIA firm gets one report checked free. If the list proves useful, we can talk about what comes next.

EXPERIENCE

Related work

In 2023 we took part in checking materials for project and planning EIAs, sorting out issues and compiling review comments. The professional judgement was made by the project’s own specialists. The check keeps that split: we compare, engineers decide.
